Clay Jones discovered at an early age that he had a knack for making fun of people, drawing Crayola caricatures of his elementary school classmates. Eventually, he decided to make a career of it. A nationally syndicated political cartoonist, Jones spent 13 years with Creators Syndicate before establishing his own syndication operation in 2013. His cartoons have appeared in The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, USA Today, and Newsweek. From 2019 to 2024, he contributed weekly cartoons to CNN Opinion. His honors include the 2022 Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Journalism Award, the Sigma Delta Chi Award, and the 2025 Rex Babin Memorial Award. Jones believes his daily mission is to lampoon authority and make it look as ridiculous as possible. “My cartoons do not tell readers what they should believe. I hope they simply challenge people to think.”
